December 9- Lets dance!

I had a lot of fun this week learning about Latin America and how to dance. It was interesting to take notice of the different regions' music. I don’t usually listen to Latin music so I never really knew about the different types. My most favorite style of music was the Haitian music. I enjoyed the traditional African music that is tied into their music. I also really enjoyed learning to dance and wish we could have spent more time doing it. It was fun to work with the different styles and I hope I get to pull out my new skills soon. I enjoyed dancing with everyone and was very proud of my progress by the end of the classes. I will enjoy teaching my younger brother and the rest of my family how to do these dances though they probably won’t be completely willing. I hope we get to do something like this again soon.

  1. Hi, Victoria! I also had so much fun this week learning about Latin music and dance. It was a great time getting to know everyone more and I hope to be able to dance more soon. I also want to teach my family so they can dance with me, but they would probably not be as excited as I was. I propose we turn our 15 minute breaks between Professor Stark's part of the class and Professor Serrata's into a mini dance party so we can hone our skills.

  2. Hey, Victoria! I enjoyed the Haitian music the most, too! It reminded me of the lively music that is often associated with Brazil, which I also enjoy listening to! The genre is called Samba, so I would recommend you try listening to it. I also want to teach my sister and my mother how to salsa because it's my easiest dance to remember and I'm sure they would love to have the same experience I had. I'm looking forward to more on-our-feet experiences in our sequence.

Also, Brooke, I agree with you! Dancing was so fun in class and it would honestly be a nice refresher from the lecture.
